The Agriculture Education section of the ISAID Grant brings together research, curriculum, and educational resources focused on preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
This page houses ISAID’s agricultural education research, outreach materials, and classroom-ready tools designed to connect sustainability science with real-world dairy systems. Our goal is to bridge research, industry, and education so that what is happening on today’s dairies is reflected in how we teach tomorrow’s producers.
We focus on systems-based learning that helps students understand how animal care, environmental responsibility, and economic viability work together in modern agriculture. Through research and curriculum development, ISAID supports educators in delivering relevant, science-based, and industry-aligned instruction.

This dairy curriculum gives students a real-world look at what sustainability means on a modern dairy. It explores how producers balance animal care, environmental responsibility, and profitability through everyday decisions.
Alongside foundational topics such as milk production, ruminant digestion, and processing, students examine full-circle agricultural systems, including nutrient recycling, renewable energy from methane, and value-added dairy by-products.
The curriculum includes eight flexible 90-minute lessons aligned with AFNR, CTE, and science standards. Designed for minimal preparation, it can be used as a full unit or as individual lessons within Animal Science, Agribusiness, or Environmental Science courses. It also supports SAE, FFA, and career exploration by helping students think in systems and solve real industry challenges.
